Vauxhall donates Vivaro vans to City Harvest

Vauxhall last week delivered two Vivaro vans to London-based charity City Harvest for the purposes of salvaging would-be food waste for the purposes of feeding the homeless. The vans were provided by the retailer groups Now, Tony Le Voi, and GO Vauxhall.

Both vans are converted by Cold Consortium to be temperature controlled, enabling City Harvest to use them in collecting surplus food from restaurants and establishments all around London and deliver it to homeless shelters and soup kitchens around the city.

The vans, liveried for free by Kent’s Motormode, were delivered to City Harvest on Friday at the Vineyard community center in Richmond.

“The generous donations from Now, Tony Le Voi, and GO will make an enormous difference to those facing hunger across London,” said Laura Winningham, CEO of City Harvest. “These Vauxhall vans will enable City Harvest to deliver thousands of nutritious meals each week to people in need and rescue tons of perfectly good food from being wasted. We look forward to this partnership and working together in the community to make a daily impact.”

“We are very pleased to offer these British-built Vivaro vans to City Harvest and contribute to the communities we serve,” said Bob Quirk, Managing Director at GO Vauxhall. “It’s been great for three retailer groups to unite and help such a worthy local cause. We are also looking at ways that our staff can get involved in volunteering and help City Harvest even further with the collection and distribution of the food.”

City Harvest delivers an estimated six tons of food to more than 100 charities with the support of other organizations including Nandos and Whole Foods.
