Ford on Friday announced that Lynn Vojvodich, 49, has been named to its board of directors, effective April 1st.

From 2013 to February of this year, Vojvodich served as the executive vice president and chief marketing officer of software company Salesforce. She also acts in an advisory role for venture capital firms that are either in the midst of start-up or on the verge of their IPO and has been an independent member of the Board of Directors for The Priceline Group since January of last year. Auto News notes that Vojdovich has also held roles with Microsoft Corp. and Andressen Horowitz.

Vojvodich will serve the Ford Board of Directors on three committees: Nominating and Governance, Sustainability and Innovation, and Audit. She joins Kimberly A. Casiano and Ellen R. Marram, bringing the total number of women of Ford’s 16-person board to three.

“Lynn is a proven marketing leader and entrepreneur with a wealth of experience in transforming customer relationships,” said Executive Chairman Bill Ford. “With deep experience, particularly in the software industry, she brings a unique perspective to the board that will help guide our strategy and evolving customer experience.”

Vojvodich holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and Product Design from Stanford and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Among her career highlights is her role in founding the Take3 marketing strategy firm in 2006 and recognition as one of Time’s Top 50 Women in Brand Marketing, Harvard Business School’s Most Inspiring Women in Silicon Valley, and Ad Age’s Women to Watch.

In what may be an instance of foreshadowing or mere coincidence, Vojdovich on Monday retweeted an image depicting the Henry Ford quote, “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.”
