Madison Bumgarner’s Chevy Colorado has #TechnologyAndStuff

Chevy exec Rikk Wilde presents 2014 World Series MVP Madison Bumgarner with the keys to a new truck

Thanks to his son’s generosity, Kevin Bumgarner is now the proud owner of the most famous pickup truck in World Series history.

Last year, after Bumgarner was named the MVP of the 2014 fall classic, a noticeably nervous Chevrolet executive named Rikk Wilde presented him with a complimentary Chevy Colorado, which he awkwardly described as being loaded with “class-winning and leading, you know, technology and stuff.”

The incident quickly went viral, and actually ended up providing Chevrolet with an estimated $5 million in free media exposure. But what became of the truck itself?

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Madison and his wife Ali talked it over and decided to give the free truck to his father Kevin. Last Thursday, Chevy representatives surprised Kevin Bumgarner with the Colorado at his home in North Carolina.

“He was obviously shocked and excited,” said Madison. “He wasn’t expecting it. It’s been so long since the whole World Series. He was grateful.”

Madison didn’t feel he needed to be there to hand over the keys himself, though.

“I’m not emotional about stuff like that,” he said.

Kevin Bumgarner will use the Colorado to haul gear for work and to nearby baseball fields, where he enjoys umpiring games. The real question, though, is will he be tech-savvy enough to utilize all of the truck’s advanced “technology and stuff”?

“I’m sure he doesn’t know how to use it,” said Madison. “I think they’re sending someone out there to show him.”

Hopefully they’re sending someone a little more informative than Rikk Wilde.
