Billy Scott will replace Daniel Knost as Patrick’s crew chief. Scott previously served as a Crew Chief for Michael Waltrip Racing, which is closing down and will no longer be competing in the Sprint Cup Series. Knost will retain a behind-the-scenes job with Patrick’s race team.
“We have great people at Stewart-Haas Racing and these changes prove that,” said Tony Stewart, co-owner of Patrick’s No. 10 Chevrolet SS. “We were able to promote from within while also adding new talent.”
Patrick’s best finish during the 2015 season was a seventh-place effort at Martinsville Speedway on March 29th. Patrick only led seven laps the entire season, but still earned more than $3.9 million this year, according to ESPN.
The 33-year-old Patrick signed a sponsorship deal earlier this season with Nature’s Bakery, which ensured she’ll remain in NASCAR for the foreseeable future.
Patrick has yet to win a NASCAR race, but she did make history in 2013 when she became the first woman to ever win the pole for the Daytona 500.
Prior to NASCAR, Danica Patrick competed in the Indy Racing League, where she became the first woman to win an Indy Car race at the 2008 Japan Indy 300.
