March Hyundai Sales Show Effects of Nationwide Bad Weather
When the polar vortex swept the nation this winter, bitter cold winds and heavy snowfall affected car sales across the nation. One of the main car brands affected by this weather was Hyundai, who announced last week that while they had a 37% increase in sales over February, March Hyundai sales were still down 1.9% compared to last year.
“While we were hoping weather across the country would finally break, much of the nation continued to experience conditions, resulting in slower sales early in the month,” said Bob Pradzinski, vice president of national sales, Hyundai Motor America. “During the second half of March, we saw very nice gains in our retail pace that we expect to continue throughout the month of April.”
Though their sales decreased year over year, Hyundai was still proud to announce that its two major crossover vehicles, the Santa Fe and the Tucson, both saw massive increases in their sales numbers, with the Santa Fe welcoming a 36.7 percent increase, and the Tucson seeing a 13.6 percent increase.
With the all-new 2015 Hyundai Genesis sedan arriving in dealerships later this month and warm spring weather heading our way, the carmaker is sure to see an increase in sales this month. Do you agree? Share your thoughts below!
