Holden has announced the appointment of Mark Harland to the position of Executive Director of Marketing, effective immediately. Harland will leverage his nearly 20 years of experience in the fields of marketing, sales, and customer experience to help Holden continue to connect with Australia’s modern consumer. He will be based out of Port Melbourne.

Said Harland of his new role: “I’m thrilled to be joining Holden as it continues its transformation. We have a unique opportunity to build on the well-earned trust and confidence this brand has amassed over its history, and we’ll do that with world-class product, innovative technology and exceptional customer service.

“Having worked with GM and Holden for some time now, I understand the challenges in redefining this iconic brand, but our transformation is already well underway. We are listening to our customers, understanding the needs and aspirations of today’s Australians, and changing perceptions about who Holden is and what it stands for.”

Harland joined General Motors in 1997; his experience includes work in Europe, China, and the United States and with brands including Cadillac, Chevrolet, and Opel. More recently, he has spent two years working as the Marketing and Customer Director for General Motors International, simultaneously consulting with Holden’s marketing team to develop its new brand strategy.

“Mark’s leadership and experience in various GM roles and markets, combined with his involvement in the development of our brand strategy and plans, means he has an in-depth understanding of where we are taking the iconic Holden brand, to better reflect and connect with today’s Australia,” said Holden Chairman and Managing Director Mark Bernhard.
