Opel on Wednesday officially launched the Crossland X crossover at a special vernissage in Berlin; at the event, CEO Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann said that the brand anticipates that the new crossover will be particularly effective at luring new female customers away from other brands.

In his remarks, which you can watch below, Neumann made specific mention of market research that points to the Crossland X being of specific appeal to women. With this, he threw to Chief Marketing Officer Tina Müller, a woman, and a woman who was presumably just happy to have something to do at the event that didn’t involve offering up quotes in response to the demands of an internet-famous cat.

Müller confirmed the idea that the Crossland X scores well with women according to market research, adding, “we like the higher seating position, we like the OnStar 24-hour concierge service…it’s fully connected [with OnStar 4G LTE and built-in Wi-Fi]…I hope you’ll like it, too. And you can touch it soon. And buy it soon.”

Just to ensure that any MRAs hiding in the audience wouldn’t begin furiously running their hands through their wispy neckbeards and angrily adjusting their trilbies, Dr. Neumann slid back in to confirm that “men love it, too.” So, if nothing else, the Opel Crossland X is about equality.

Müller concluded by wishing those in attendance a pleasant evening and confirming that she and Grumpy Cat would be available for selfies thereafter.

Automotive News adds that Neumann confirmed that the Crossland X will share a platform with the Peugeot 2008 and Citroen C3 Picasso, and that all three versions will be built in Zaragoza, Spain. The Crossland X will make its public debut in March at the Geneva Motor Show.
