Mary Barra Announces Approval of Detroit Bankruptcy Decision
It wasn’t an easy decision for Detroit to file for bankruptcy, and it has not been firmly supported by everyone within and outside of the community. Just last week, Bankruptcy Judge Steven Rhodes confirmed a plan that will ultimately slash several billions of dollars in debt in an effort to rebuild the city.

Some have spoken out against this move, while others have affirmed their support. For her part, Mary Barra recently addressed the Detroit bankruptcy decision publicly, voicing her approval of the matter.
The following is the statement that Barra released on Judge Rhode’s decision:
“Judge Rhodes’ decision is historic and a validation for everyone who has been committed to Detroit. Working together, we can transform the city and you can see clear progress in the restoration of downtown, the entrepreneurs who are flocking here, the massive building projects getting underway and the work being done to improve education, neighborhoods and city services.”
