Q50, QX60 Bring May Infiniti Sales Up 31.4 Percent
Infiniti has released its sales figures for May, reporting sales of 10,376 vehicles in the United States. May Infiniti sales were up 31.4 percent year-over-year, aided largely by the success of the all-new Infiniti Q50 luxury sports sedan and the consistent performance of its SUVs.
May Infiniti Sales Leader: the Q50 Sedan
The five-star safety-rated Infiniti Q50 led the way for passenger cars with 2,938 units sold. Despite off months from the Infiniti G Sedan (1,694 units, down 12.1 percent); Q60 (1,004 units, down 2.9 percent); and Q70 (398 units, down 15.5 percent), Infiniti cars were up 75.8 percent in the month of May and remain 29.6 percent ahead of the 2013 pace.
May Infiniti Sales Leader: the QX60 Hybrid
The QX60 Hybrid was the volume leader for Infiniti SUVs in May with 2,736 units shipped, but was ultimately 7.3 percent behind May 2013. The QX80 moved 980 units, marking a 4.5 percent year-over-year increase; and the QX50 more than doubled its May 2013 sales with 265 units moved. The 2015 model year version of both the QX50 and QX70 arrived at dealerships late in the month, and the litany of improvements and consistent pricing will likely help both models appeal to new buyers in June.
On the whole, Infiniti has moved 50,767 units through the first five months of the year, marking a 17.7 year-to-date increase.
