Mazda CX-9 Rear Seat Entertainment System

Rear-seat entertainment systems have been a bit of an interesting addition to vehicles—I personally can remember riding in the back seat of my grandpa’s big van and watching a video version of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” on a family road trip up through Michigan (I was kind of a weird kid). However, for Mazda, rear-seat entertainment systems haven’t been a part of the equation.

Until now, that is, as Mazda has announced that it would be adding a new Rear Seat Entertainment System accessory kit for the brand’s flagship crossover, the CX-9.

This doesn’t just mean the 2018 Mazda CX-9 will have the option. Mazda is also offering to retrofit CX-9 models from the same generation, so reaching back to 2016 and 2017 CX-9 models, as well as 2018 CX-9s which have already been bought.

The Rear Seat Entertainment System includes:

  • Dual 8-inch LCD monitors (1024 x 600 resolution; 16:9 aspect ratio)
  • Single CD/DVD player
  • USB 2.0 and SD card inputs
  • HDMI ports for wired device connections (Android/iOS smartphones and tablets)
  • Two IR-type wireless headphones
  • 5mm stereo headphone output
  • Two remote controls

The two monitors are capable of showing the same content or can be split.

The new system is available starting now and is offered at an MSRP of $1,995.
