2017 Mazda3

Back in July, Mazda unveiled the updated 2017 Mazda3, including some minor restyling on the front fascia and on the interior controls, as well as G-Vectoring Control. Now, Mazda is revealing even more upgrades and the pricing for the 2017 model year.

In addition to the already announced changes, the new Mazda3 will receive enhanced sound insulation to create a quieter cabin, and the Mazda3’s trim levels have been simplified—previously, those seeking a manual transmission as well as the i-ACTIVSENSE suite of safety technology or the Premium Package were out of luck, as both were reserved for automatic models. This, however, has been reversed due to customer demand.

The simplification goes further than that, though—before, the Mazda3 was available in six trim configurations: Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring, with each designated as an “i” model (meaning with a 2.0-liter engine) or an “s” model (meaning a 2.5-liter engine). Instead, Mazda has simply opted to equip Sport and Touring models with the smaller engine, and gave the larger engine to the new Touring 2.5 and Grand Touring models.

The Mazda3 will begin at an MSRP of $17,845 for a Sport sedan with a manual transmission (opting for an automatic transmission raises the price to $18,895 and making it a hatchback with a manual makes it $19,095). From there, prices range up to the most expensive at $24,945 for a Grand Touring hatchback model with an automatic transmission.

Packages include a Sport Preferred Equipment Package for $1,000, a Touring Popular Equipment Package for $1,500, a Grand Touring Equipment Package for $1,600, the i-ACTIVSENSE Package for $1,100 (Grand Touring models only), and i-ELOOP (available only for Grand Touring models with automatics only).

The Mazda3 begins arriving at dealerships this week.
