2016 Mazda MX-5 Top Down

The Miata may be Mazda’s most famous creation, which is why there was so much excitement when the brand announced back in April that it had officially produced the one millionth Miata. At the time, it promised that it would take the Miata on a tour around the world to thank its fans and loyal customers for making the MX-5 the best-selling roadster of all time, but didn’t release any details on where or when the tour would happen in the US.

Now, Mazda has released a schedule of an 18-stop tour, beginning at Mazda Raceway Leguna Seca in Monterey, California, for the Monterey Motorsports Reunion from August 18th-21st. From there, the Miata will tour the country, eventually making its meandering way back to the Mazda Raceway on October 1st-2nd for Miatas at Mazda Raceway.

Road Trip! But before you get too excited, make sure you follow these tips

“Last year was the ‘Year of the Miata’ with the launch of the all-new 2016 MX-5, but even a year into the sales of the fourth-generation roadster, that momentum has continued,” said Robert Davis, senior VP, U.S. Operations, Mazda North America. “From winning the 2016 World Car of the Year and World Car Design of the Year, to the introduction of the all-new 2017 MX-5 RF, to our one-millionth Miata milestone, the MX-5 continues to symbolize the innovation and spirit that propels Mazda. With the Millionth Miata Celebration, we’re excited to give back to those who, like us, continue to believe that driving matters.”

At each stop, the first 240 owners and fans will get the opportunity to sign the one-millionth MX-5, with about 400 attendees receiving a “Millionth Miata Celebration Tour” T-shirt.

For those in the Dayton or Columbus area, the Miata will be making stops in Indianapolis and Columbus on September 6th and 7th. For everyone else, there is a full schedule of dates at the Mazda media site here.
