Mazda Announces Small Upgrades and Price Bump for 2018 MX-5 RF at Chicago Auto Show
The Chicago Auto Show has long held a special place in Mazda’s heart (right next to the spinning triangles) as the place where the brand first unveiled its MX-5 Miata to the world back in 1989. As a result, it has also been the site of a number of MX-5 “firsts,” and so this year, since the brand does not have an entirely new model to uncover and already showed off its latest redesigned model (the new Mazda6) at the LA Auto Show back in November, Mazda took this opportunity to announce the details for the second model year of its hardtop MX-5 RF.

It seems that the 2018 MX-5 RF will be specifically receiving a slight feature upgrade for its lower Club trim, with newly standard heated cloth sport seats and some new additions to the Club trim’s Brembo/BBS package. All models, though, are now to be equipped with Advanced Keyless Entry.
These upgrades are accompanied by a slight price bump – when first introduced, the MX-5 RF came in at an MSRP of $31,555, but now that price has gone up by $355 to a total of $31,910 for a Club model with a six-speed manual. For an automatic transmission in the same trim, the MSRP is $32,510.
The 2018 Mazda MX-5 RF will roll out to dealerships this month, joining the model-year-2018 soft-top version, which has already been on lots, starting in December.
