2017 Mazda CX-3

Mazda is in a constant process of updating its vehicles and recently announced this year’s updates for its smallest SUV, the CX-3.

First of all, for 2018, the CX-3 will start at an MSRP of $20,110. This is a very slight price bump of $150 from last year, which is reflected by similar bumps in higher trim levels.

For that slight price increase, the CX-3 receives some new standard features. One of the biggest of these features is Smart City Brake Support, which uses sensors to monitor objects in front of the vehicle and can automatically apply the brakes if a collision seems imminent, so long as the CX-3 is moving under 19 mph. This is part of the brand’s rollout of the feature to (almost) its whole lineup.

On top of that, the 2018 CX-3 is also receiving the brand’s G-Vectoring Control system, which increases driving control through turns by slightly reducing engine torque, shifting the vehicle’s weight onto its front wheels and increasing grip. Mazda calls its benefits “subtle, yet important.”

Finally, since Mazda doesn’t believe in putting off improvements until major reworkings, the CX-3 is also getting some revisions to its chassis and steering to offer improved handling, comfort, and sound suppression.

There are also some new optional features, including a full-color Active Driving Display, a power driver’s seat with memory settings, and a heated steering wheel.

The 2018 CX-3 is on sale in select regions now, and nationwide in September, at the following prices:
