Mazda Introduces Better Standard Features for 2016.5 CX-5
Apparently not content with waiting for the next model year to come out, Mazda North American Operations decided to copy the Lion King and break out the old half-sequel with the 2016.5 Mazda CX-5 compact crossover. The automaker announced pricing and packaging via press release on December 18th.

So, what is being added that merited a mid-year model? Not too much, feature-wise. A backup camera is being added as standard in all models with SKYACTIV-Drive six-speed automatic transmission, Touring models get standard navigation and heated front seats, and Grand Touring models get standard navigation. Previously, all of these features were part of optional packages at one level or another.
Despite this, Mazda is excited about the added features. “The added content in 2016.5 CX-5 reflects our customers’ tastes toward premium features in a compelling, fun-to-drive, stylish crossover,” said Robert Davis, Senior VP of U.S. Operations, MNAO. “CX-5 buyers are educated, upwardly mobile, active-lifestyle individuals. With these updates, we aim to provide them with an even greater ownership experience.”
