The popular Japanese automaker proves its superiority yet again

Mazda 2018 Lineup

Mazda has been named the “Best Car Brand” of 2018 by U.S. News & World Report, marking the third consecutive year the automaker has won the award.

Compared to most other brands, Mazda has a small-sized lineup of vehicles. But while others tend to have great vehicles and not-so-great vehicles to balance them out, Mazda doesn’t seem to make any duds. Some, however, still managed to shine.

How Mazda Easily Nabbed the Title of “Best Car Brand”

“Mazda won the car class on the strength of the Mazda3, Mazda6 and Mazda MX-5 Miata,” said Jamie Page Deaton, managing editor of U.S. News Best Cars. “All three models have top-notch performance that puts an emphasis on direct, sporty handling, as well as quality interiors that are more upscale than their price tags might suggest.”

Deaton then went on to highlight the Mazda3 further, noting its strong efficiency, premium cabin, easy-to-operate infotainment system, and spacious hatchback model. “The Mazda3 is one of the sportiest compact cars on the market, but it also offers the civility and comfort required to make it an excellent daily commuting partners,” she wrote.

To determine the award winners, U.S. News & World Report averaged the overall score of every brand’s model that fit the award class (in this instance, “cars” as opposed to SUVs or trucks). These scores are based on the publication’s own rankings, which are derived from reliability data, safety scores, and the consensus of the automotive press.

Even longer after Mazda adopted its KODO design and developed SKYACTIV engine technology, its cars continue to earn the respect of the industry. Will any other brand be able to stop its three-year streak?
