As we approach the end of the year, we sadly approach the end of other things: the holiday season, school semesters, and the leadership of Mazda North American Operations President and CEO Jim O’Sullivan.

O'Sullivan

Bye, Jim

O’Sullivan, who has held the title with Mazda North American Operations for 13 years and worked in the automotive industry for 40-plus years, will be retiring at the end of the year as the longest-serving senior executive of any car company in the US.

“I could not be more sad to see Jim leave Mazda,” said Masamichi Kogai, President and CEO of Mazda Motor Corporation, the global parent company of MNAO, later adding, “Both personally and on behalf of all Mazda executives and employees, I would like to express my gratitude to Jim for his many years of service and the huge contribution he has made to our company. I wish him the very best of luck in retirement and I’m sure he will excel in whatever the future holds for him.”

O’Sullivan will pass along the post of President and CEO on January 1, 2016, to a current Managing Executive Officer of Mazda Motor Corporation: Masahiro Moro.

Masahiro Moro

Hello, Masahiro

At time of writing, Moro was responsible for Global Sales, Marketing and Customer Innovation, and before that, he served as Vice President of Marketing and Vice President of Product marketing at Mazda Motor Europe, as well as holding positions in sales and marketing for Mazda divisions throughout the world. Moro has been with Mazda since 1983.
