Rack up another tally for the Mazda3 on the big board, because Mazda’s oft-lauded compact car (in its hatchback configuration) has won another award. This time, the title came from Strategic Vision, who gave the Mazda3 its Total Quality Award, and thus top honors among the Small Multi-Function Car segment.

This award part of Strategic Vision’s Total Quality Impact survey, which attempts to score the complete measure of the experience of owning a given vehicle, including all positive and negative aspects such as reliability and driving excitement. It does this through owner surveys which first take into account all ownership experiences, then take into account the consumer’s values, attitudes, emotions, interests, and brand images.

Strategic Vision had this to say about our favorite compact hatchback: “Mazda3 Hatchback surpasses all its competition by delivering more than is expected in a segment that is often just more functional than delivering extra touches. Its overall profile of what is delivered for the price creates value and a positive image.”

Funnily enough, the Mazda3 has won so many awards that, when Mazda North American Operations added a statement at the bottom of the press release saying, “Mazda North American Operations is proud of its award-winning vehicle lineup,” it really sounds like they are just trying to remind us that, by the way, Mazda doesn’t just make the Mazda3. It also makes the Miata: “The 2016 model year vehicles have already earned over 100 industry accolades with a recent impressive win from the 2016 MX-5 with two awards for Word Car of the Year and World Car Design of the Year.”
