Meanwhile in Miami: Mercedes’ Cigarette Racing 50 Marauder GT S Concept
Also the 2016 Mercedes-AMG GT S sports car
While the rest of the automotive community is making reveal after reveal at one of the world’s most important auto shows in the bitter cold winds of Chicago, Mercedes-Benz is catching some sun in Miami today at the Miami International Boat Show. Kinda odd for an automaker to place more emphasis on a boat show than a car show, but sure, you do your thing, Mercedes. We got you.
At the boat show, the German luxury carmaker is showing off the new 2016 Mercedes-AMG GT S sports car alongside the just-debuted Cigarette Racing 50 Marauder GT S Concept boat. According to Mercedes, the 50 Marauder GT S Concept is the most powerful production twin engine performance boat to ever sail, and it takes cues directly from the GT S performance beast from Mercedes-AMG. The boat has AMG Solarbeam Yellow on the exterior along with custom matte black accents.
The GT S car is also noteworthy, boasting a front mid-engine design and is powered by an AMG 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine, good for 503 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. It’s got a zero-to-60 time of just 3.7 seconds. The 2016 Mercedes-AMG GT S will launch this April.
“With its technological substance the Mercedes-AMG GT S meets our high demands on driving dynamics, agility and performance,” remarked Tobias Moers, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG. “The GT S is built according to the motto ‘Handcrafted by Racers.’ We are glad that this spirit and our brand-typical driving performance inspired our long-time partner Cigarette Racing to create this powerboat.”
