Mercedes Bringing AMG Version of GLC SUV to NY Auto Show
The 2016 New York International Auto Show will be packed full of new Mercedes-Benz vehicles and the latest model the German auto brand has announced will be attending the show is the 2017 Mercedes-AMG GLC43.
The AMG version of the GLC SUV will come loaded with a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged engine rated at 362 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. That powerful motor will work with a 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic transmission paired to a rear-biased 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. Mercedes estimates the 2017 Mercedes-AMG GLC43 can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds, but it’s electronically limited to a top speed of 155 mph.
Exterior design highlights of the new GLC43 include a diamond radiator grille, 20-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, and distinctive tailpipes, as well as specialized AMG front and rear bumpers.
The cabin of the new GLC43 offers standard sports seats, a checkered-flag themed AMG instrument cluster, and a leather flat-bottomed sports steering wheel. The GLC also comes with a 180 mph speedometer even though the SUV is electronically limited to just a maximum of 155 mph.
Other notable features of the GLC43 include the SUV’s Air Body Control sport suspension with adaptive dampers, which allow for three settings: Comfort, Sport, and Sport Plus. There is also an AMG Dynamic Select system that allows the driver to choose from five specific drive programs.
“With the new AMG GLC43 we are offering an AMG model in the mid-size SUV segment for the first time,” Mercedes-AMG GmbH CEO Tobias Moers said in a statement. “The new SUV from Affalterbach marks the pinnacle of the GLC product range and in the AMG portfolio it closes the gap between the GLA and GLE.”
The 2017 Mercedes-AMG GLC43 is scheduled to go on sale later this year and will be showcased at the upcoming New York Auto Show.
