For five years, Chevrolet has sponsored the US Army-Navy Game. To mark its sponsorship of the 2014 Army-Navy Game, the Bowtie Brand donated a brand spankin’ new 2015 Chevy Colorado to Wish for Our Heroes to award to one deserving military family.

Wish for Our Heroes is a non-profit organization that helps out military men and women with resources that non-military families might take for granted. The recipient of the Colorado this year was the Thompson family. The family was celebrating the homecoming of US Army Sgt. Jonathon Preston Thompson, who was reunited at the game with his wife, Elizabeth, and his daughter, Reese.

“As we’ve seen with the Thompsons and millions of others, military families make huge sacrifices for our country, and it feels good to celebrate Sgt. Thompson’s homecoming with a brand-new truck,” said former GM Chairman and CEO, Dan Akerson, who graduated from the US Naval Academy.

Sgt. Thompson has been deployed twice and served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. His family’s home at Fort Riley, Kansas, caught fire earlier this year. The family is still recovering.

The 2014 Army-Navy Game was held at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore. Unfortunately for Thompson, the Navy once again beat the Army, though he still had plenty to smile about.
