Wouldn’t it be awesome if Pac-Man was real? Well, no, not really, because he would likely try to kill you—at least if the new trailer for the upcoming movie Pixels is anything to go by. [ Click to Watch the Trailer ]

MINI Coopers attempt to kill Pac-Man in the movie Pixels

The premise of the movie is this: aliens pick up signals from ’80s video games like Space Invaders, and it is assumed that the players trying to kill aliens is a declaration of war. In response, the aliens send large versions of classic video games—such as Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, and Tetris—to Earth in order to exterminate the human race. The movie, set to come out in the US on July 24th, stars Adam Sandler, Peter Dinklage, Denis Akiyama, and Josh Gad as the main heroes, but despite this lapse in casting judgment, the movie promises to be fairly entertaining.

“But what does this have to do with cars?” you might ask. And it’s a good question—one that only MINI can answer. You see, in order to defeat giant Pac-Man, the heroes decide that they need to introduce ghosts—the only things that can stop him. And so, they chase him down in four MINI Coopers, each one with the same color and name as a Pac-Man ghost. It’s unclear whether or not this mission is successful (although it’s certainly a successful product placement mission for MINI), so we’ll have to wait until July to see how this plays out.

In the meantime, if you need your MINI movie fix, I recommend re-watching the original Italian Job, or perhaps The Bourne Identity, both of which feature MINI Cooper chase scenes without the unfortunate addition of Adam Sandler.
