Pace Yourself for Adventure: MINI Paceman Adventure Concept

Decrease Font Size Increase Font Size Text Size Print This Page

Known for its adventurous side, MINI frequently seems to come up with creative ideas for ad campaigns or April Fools’ Day pranks. Turns out, if you’re an apprentice for MINI at the BMW plant in Munich, you get to have some fun too. Using the MINI Cooper S Paceman as a base, the OEM’s apprentices and their instructors took it upon themselves to redesign the car into something unique: the MINI Paceman Adventure concept.

The oddly cool MINI Paceman Adventure concept

This one-of-a-kind concept is a two-seater car featuring a pickup-truck-style cargo area. MINI’s apprentices also added MINI’s ALL4 all-wheel drive, and a modified suspension designed to keep the ride smooth and comfortable. Every adventurous car needs a spare tire in case of emergency, and MINI’s apprentices cleverly moved theirs from its usual resting place in the now-nonexistent trunk to a specially-designed roof rack.

This concept vehicle was designed for those who want to get off the beaten path and have some off-road adventures (hence the name, right?). Higher front and rear clearance ramps allow the MINI Paceman Adventure to navigate rocky terrain, while the roof-level air intake provides the vehicle with the perfect equipment to cross rivers, streams, and everything in between. As you’d expect from a rugged, off-road pickup truck MINI, the Paceman Adventure gets its very own exclusive paint job, aptly named Jungle Green metallic.

Before you get too excited, I should probably mention that the Paceman Adventure will not be making it to production. As with most adventures, this one is a one-off and MINI has no plans to offer the Paceman Adventure to its mass market. However, stay tuned to see if MINI takes any design cues from its apprentices in any future vehicles!

I would definitely love to take this bad boy out for a spin across a few rivers and up a few mountains; how about you? Share your thoughts in the comments.
