Mitsubishi Issues Recall, Prompt Fix for Fuel Tank Problem
Mitsubishi is recalling certain 2014 and 2015 EVO and Lancer Ralliart models for fuel tank issues
It looks like 2015 is the year of recalls for the automotive industry. With General Motors, Fiat Chrysler, and now Volkswagen, issuing major recalls left and right, few carmakers haven’t had to recall their vehicles. Now, Mitsubishi is joining the ranks of vehicle recalls—but the automaker has a quick fix for the problem that won’t inconvenience you at all.

About 1,500 models of the 2014 and 2015 EVO and Lancer Ralliart are facing a recall in the United States for potential wear to their fuel tanks. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently announced that the right parking cable has the potential to rub against the tank, which causes the protective coating to come off. When the protective coating is no longer on the fuel tank, this can cause the tank to rust and possibly leak.
There are no actual claims of this happening, though.

Mitsubishi dealers will easily fix this problem for the recalled vehicles. All they need to do is replace the right parking brake on all affected models. The fuel tank will also be inspected during the brake replacement, ensuring that the Mitsubishi owners are driving in a safe vehicle.
Customers will receive notifications about the problem within the next couple weeks.
While recalls are never fun to deal with, you can at least find the silver lining of the situation and appreciate the fact that Mitsubishi didn’t lie about its recalls like VW.
