The Asher House is a dog-adoption organization born from one man’s intense love of shelter dogs. In 2017, Lee Asher ran a successful KickStarter campaign to buy an RV, and has since been traveling the U.S. to boost adoptions through events and social gatherings. Now, it seems that Asher and his team are getting a boost from Mitsubishi, as the brand has given them a new 2018 Eclipse Cross.

Nicely Done: Here is how to take the perfect test drive

The Asher House works by exposing people in an area to different breeds of dogs, while emphasizing that each is available at shelters. Asher aims to break a preliminary fear of dogs in shelters, saying that in general people seem to think that the only dogs in a shelter are aggressive “Cujo type dogs.”

Mitsubishi Motors is doing this as part of its “Drive your Ambition” marketing campaign. Asher’s passion impressed the brand, and so it decided to pitch in to help. Along with the Eclipse Cross, for example, Mitsubishi will also be providing support to hold local market rescue events and social gatherings across the country.

Bigger Brother: The Mitsubishi Outlander and Outlander PHEV are highly acclaimed

So far, Asher has helped foster 146 dog adoptions. While he hasn’t visited all 48 states yet, he has made a broad sweep of the eastern states. Upcoming events include locations in Salt Lake City, Boise, Las Vegas, Billings, and Seattle. At the events, Asher brings dogs from a local shelter, then pays for the adoption and provides a month’s worth of MyOllie dog food.
