The 2016 Mitubishi Outlander has bolstered Mitsubishi’s October sales

Mitsubishi’s production in the United States may have stopped, but it hasn’t stopped the Japanese carmaker from making a lasting impression on American consumers. The carmaker’s October sales mark the 20th month in a row it has posted year-over-year sales increases.

October was also the seventh consecutive month the carmaker has posted double-digit sales increases.

With 7,426 vehicles sold in October, Mitsubishi has seen an increase in sales of 19.8% compared to October 2014. The company’s year-to-date sales have also already eclipsed the sales of 2014.

Leading Mitsubishi’s October sales were the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander and Outlander Sport. The Outlander had its best October sales since 2002, posting 2,040 units sold, while the Outlander Sport had its best ever October with sales of 3,094.

“Outlander Sport continues to be the best-selling model for the Mitsubishi Motors brand and the newly introduced 2016 Outlander, with over 100 changes, has generated its own set of sales records, attracting new people to the brand,” said Don Swearingen, executive vice president of Mitsubishi Motors North America. “Together, these two vehicles account for over 69% of the brand’s total volume for the month of October.”

As the sales for Mitsubishi’s crossover and SUV models continue to increase each month, it’s no wonder the Japanese carmaker is starting to focus more on SUV production. Though it has moved production from the United States, these consecutive months of sales growth prove that Mitsubishi is not leaving the American market any time soon.
