2017 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV

If you live in the United Kingdom and buy one of the new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV plug-in hybrid SUVs, you’ll also get a free home charger kit to go with it.

Those interested will have to act quickly; this isn’t a permanent bonus but rather a limited offer for customers that register between October 14 and December 28 of this year. Should they choose to do so, they will receive a 3.6 kWh Chargemaster Homecharge unit that will be installed free of charge at their home before January 31, 2017.

What’s the Difference? Mitsubishi Mirage vs Mitsubishi Mirage G4

Chargemaster is Mitsubishi’s official charging partner in the UK and its home charge kits come with a three-year warranty. The benefit, of course, is charging time: with the Chargemaster system, the Outlander PHEV batteries can be charged 60% faster than with a 13A socket. It’s supposedly safer, too.

That will allow customers to go home, plug in their Outlander PHEV, and head back out with a fully charged battery in almost half the time they required before. The benefit is probably small whenever charging the car overnight, but for any necessary charging in between when time is of the essence, customers are sure to benefit.

Unfortunately, it seems that as always, the Europeans get all the good stuff—like the Triton L200 pickup truck—while Americans are left hanging. Then again, the Outlander PHEV isn’t yet available in the United States. Perhaps when it is, and it will be soon, the charging offer will come our way as well.
