The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport and Outlander crossovers helped the brand post its best sales since 2007

Mitsubishi might not be having the greatest April ever in regards to its reputation, but the Japanese carmaker isn’t letting that get in the way of its April sales numbers. According to a recent report, Mitsubishi Motors North America posted a total sales of 9,674 units in April, which is a 17.7% increase from April of last year and the company’s best sales month since 2007.

Helping achieve these terrific sales numbers were Mitsubishi’s most popular models—the Outlander and Outlander Sport. These two vehicles posted a combined sales of 5,343, which is a 36% increase since April of 2015. The Outlander’s sales alone measured 2,729 units, which is a 118% increase over last year.

“Coming off the heels of a strong first quarter for the brand, the first month of the second quarter continued the momentum with April sales that we haven’t seen since 2007,” said Don Swearingen, Chief Operating Officer for Mitsubishi Motors North America. “Our CUVs continue to be the sales workhorse for the lineup while the subcompact Mirage demonstrates the need for affordable, reliable, and economical transportation.”

The brand’s other models, which include the electric i-MiEV and the Lancer, posted a total combined sales of 1,029.
