MLB Player Matt Kemp Adds Custom Wheels to his Mercedes G-Wagen

Professional baseball player Matt Kemp has accomplished a lot in his big league career. He’s won two Gold Glove awards, two Silver Slugger Awards, and he’s also a two-time all-star. As a reward for his accomplishments, Kemp signed an 8-year, $160 million contract in 2011, so with all of that money, one has to wonder what type of vehicle Kemp drives to the ballpark?

The answer to that question is the Mercedes-Benz G-Class–well, at least on some of those days he drives to Petco Park–as Kemp is also known to keep a Rolls Royce Wraith in his garage. The G-Glass SUV is also a favorite of celebrities such as Ben Baller, Nick Young, and Ayesha Curry.

Kemp was recently pictured with his G-Wagen and the photo was then shared on Instagram by Giovanna Wheels on April 30th. Furthermore, Kemp’s G-Wagen is unique in that it has been fitted with Gianelle Santo 2SS 24-inch wheels. In case you’re not familiar with the brand, Gianelle Wheels is a luxury wheel designer and manufacturer that places a great deal of emphasis on the craftsmanship of its unique wheel designs.

The 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class carries a starting MSRP of $119,900, but with the size of his contract, Kemp probably didn’t even blink an eye when signing the paperwork for this vehicle. Underneath the hood is a 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine rated at 416 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque. This powerful engine allows the G-Wagen to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than six seconds, which is no small task when you consider this SUV weighs around three tons.

Kemp’s G-Class might not be as fast as Drake’s new McClaren 675LT or as flashy as the purple Lamborghini that Rob Kardashian recently bought for his new fiancé, but the G-Class signifies Kemp’s status as one of the most revered and successful professional athletes in southern California.
