Former NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Kurt Busch recently announced he will remain with Stewart-Haas Racing, as he has agreed to a new multi-year contract extension with the race team. Additionally, it was announced that Monster Energy will be sponsoring the No. 41 racecar in 2016.

Monster will co-sponsor Busch’s racecar for 17 races next year and will be the primary sponsor for one more race. Busch’s other sponsor is Haas Automation, which is the business that Gene Haas owns. Haas happens to be his team’s co-owner, along with Tony Stewart. The additional sponsorship of Monster ensures that Busch’s team will have funding to compete , which cannot be said for XFINITY series driver Regan Smith, who was booted from the seat of the No. 7 racecar owned by Dale Earnhardt Jr. because his team couldn’t find enough sponsors.

Busch was suspended for three races earlier this season after a Delaware judge ruled “he probably assaulted” his then girlfriend, but he was never charged criminally. Despite the controversy, Monster stood behind Busch, who previously raced in an XFINITY series racecar sponsored by the energy drink, which was owned by his brother Kyle Busch.

So far this season, the 37-year-old Busch has picked up two victories and is third in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series overall standings heading into Talladega.

The race at Talladega will take place on October 25th and can be seen on NBCSN at 2:30 pm.
