With Veterans Day nearing, it’s important we take time to appreciate the great men and women of this country who have given us the chance to pursue our own ambitions. We cannot neglect our duty, because these individuals bravely served for us, to find our own ways to serve them in return. Otherwise, we’ll lose sight of the heritage our nation has bestowed upon us.

New York mixed-medium artist Ben Moon has found his own creative way to pay tribute to veterans utilizing his skills.

Ben Moon’s “Our Painted Lady”–a custom hand-painted Rolls Royce–will be participating in 95th annual New York City Veterans Day Parade before being auctioned to support the Wounded Warrior Project.

The origins of Ben Moon’s “Our Painted Lady” project began when the artist was approached by car collector Frank Marzano to jazz up his black 1985 Rolls Royce Silver Spur with artistic designs. Ben, who had studied in New Orleans and now resides in New York, gladly accepted the challenge.

The car was prepped with special “plastic dip” to avoid harming the original paint, and the result is an exquisite style that showcases Moon’s thoughtful iconography without undermining the innate Rolls Royce style.

Eventually, the collaboration turned into something more than just an artistic car, as Frank decided to offer “Our Painted Lady” to Ben’s fundraising work.

Since then, Moon’s “Our Painted Lady” has made appearances at upscale events like Americana Manhasset’s Concours D’Elegance and local parades like New York’s Village Halloween procession.

The art car’s next stop, and the most meaningful, is New York City’s 95th annual Veterans Day Parade. On November 11th, Ben and Frank Marzano will be riding “Our Painted Lady” in the procession while escorting Ben’s 96-year-old grandfather, Solomon “Sol” Linchytz. The decorated World War II veteran served as a Special Agent in the Counter Intelligence Corps Division of US Forces from 1945-1949.

“For as long as I can remember, my grandfather told me the most amazing stories about how he spent his 20s in the counterintelligence rounding up Nazis during WWII,” reflected Moon. “It always amazed me how his generation was called upon to take part in such monumental,  world changing tasks, and responded with honor.”

Beginning December 1st, Moon’s “Our Painted Lady” will be auctioned on Charitybuzz until bidding closes on December 12th, and 100% of the resulting proceeds will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project.

“Although I’ll probably never battle Nazis,” Moon mused, “I’m so proud to use the talent that I’ve been blessed with to contribute in some small way to honor their incredible contribution.”
