A few months ago, the 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 won AutoGuide.com Reader’s Choice Car of the Year, and now the muscle car is up for another prestigious award, as the 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 has been nominated by Motor Authority for its yearly Best Car to Buy award.

The 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 features a powerful 5.2-liter flat-plane-crank V8 engine rated at 526 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque. Additionally, the Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 is capable of rocketing from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 3.9 seconds and it can do a quarter mile in just 12.2 seconds.

“This isn’t your father’s Mustang, even if your father’s Mustang was a 2000 SVT Cobra R,” said Kirk Bell of Motor Authority. “This is the most track capable Mustang of all time.”

In order to make the vehicle both lighter and quicker, the 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 does not feature air conditioning, rear seats, an audio system, rearview camera, or exhaust resonators. In addition, the 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 was the first mass-produced vehicle to feature carbon-fiber wheels, which removed approximately 50 pounds of weight from the pony car.

Besides the new Mustang, six other vehicles were nominated by Motor Authority for its Best Car to Buy ward, including the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS, as well as the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V.

Motor Authority will announce the winner of the Best Car to Buy award via its website on January 4th.
