Multimatic Inc will built the carbon fiber Ford GT

A deal has been reached that will tap Multimatic Inc., a company with whom Ford has a 30-plus year history, to create the carbon fiber superbeast known as the Ford GT.

Based in Markham, Ontario, Multimatic Inc. will be responsible for creating the body of the two-door two-seater. Many are quick to note the irony of a quintessential American sports car being built in Canada, but we’re not going to do that here. Think globally, folks.

“We chose to partner with them because they have specialized equipment for carbon fiber production and expertise in carbon fiber assembly,” said Marc Vejgman, marketing manager for Ford of Canada.

Multimatic Inc. has worked with Ford on the FR500C and Boss 302R race cars, which is likely more confirmation toward the foregone conclusion of the Ford GT being used for the purposes of winning yet another 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Ford hasn’t announced pricing or production numbers, but it’s within reason to predict a limited run in the hundreds and an MSRP of $200,000 or greater.
