NASCAR Changes Postseason Venue After Offensive Donald Trump Speech

It looks like Donald Trump is offending people with more than just a terrible comb-over. The real-estate mogul and 2016 presidential candidate recently threw himself under the proverbial bus for making controversial statements about Mexican immigrants in a speech announcing his run for president—and it looks like NASCAR is having none of it.
After making the news for banning Confederate flags at its races, NASCAR has once again taken a stand against prejudice, joining the growing list of companies that are cutting ties with Trump. After Camping World CEO Marcus Lemonis sent a letter to NASCAR, stating that he would not attend the Camping World Truck Series postseason banquet if it is held at a Trump resort—which it typically is—NASCAR has announced that it will no longer use the Trump National Doral Miami as the banquet’s venue.
An excerpt from Lemonis’ letter, which was quoted in USA Today, reads:
Our company will not stand to support any person or organization that associates with such beliefs and we feel strongly about distancing ourselves from any negative and discriminatory comments made against any gender, ethnicity, age group, or so forth. I would hope that the entire NASCAR organization would agree with my sentiments.
Along with the postseason banquet, NASCAR will also move the location of the Sprint Cup Series’ championship weekend news conference event to a location that has yet to be determined.
