It looked like Joey Logano was going to win his fourth consecutive race, until driver Matt Kenseth crashed Logano’s racecar into the wall, which allowed Jeff Gordon and his No. 24 Chevrolet SS to win Sunday’s race at Martinsville Speedway.

Gordon’s win was the 93rd of his legendary career and it also guaranteed him a spot in the final round of the NASCAR playoffs.

Fellow Chevy driver Jamie McMurray finished the race in second position and he was followed by the No. 11 racecar driven by Denny Hamlin. Fan favorite Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished the race in fourth and Kyle Bush completed the top five.

The win was the first for Gordon in his last 39 races and will allow him the chance to earn his fifth NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship. Gordon previously announced the 2015 racing season will be his last as a full-time driver and that he will become a broadcaster for Fox next season.

Gordon has been enjoying his farwell season and the racecar driver made headlines last week when he gave away his own 2003 Monte Carlo to one of his biggest fans. Additionally, Gordon didn’t seem to have any problems picking up the controversial win, which was in large part due to Kenseth wrecking Logano.

“Yeah, we had a few things that fell in our favor,” Gordon said. “But you’ve got to be there and be ready for that moment when it comes, and we were.”

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will be in action again on November 8th when they’ll be competing at Texas Motor Speedway. The race is scheduled to begin at 2 pm and will be broadcast by NBC.
