After rain postponed the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race Saturday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Joey Logano took no issue with the rescheduled start time on Sunday and used the opportunity to pick up his fourth win of the season, which guaranteed him a spot in the Eliminator Round of NASCAR’s playoffs.

Logano led 227 of the race’s 334 laps and held off the No. 4 Chevrolet SS driven by Kevin Harvick for the win. Harvick has finished runner-up to Logano three times this season and he was leading the race at Watkins Glenn until the last lap, but his Budweiser Chevy ran out of gas and was passed by Logano who picked up that win.

“When you can beat (Harvick) any day, any time, that’s a big deal for us,” said Roger Penske, the owner of Logano’s racecear. “I think that it was good that we could at least be on a level playing field with him today.”

The No. 78 Chevrolet SS piloted by Martin Truex Jr. finished third at Charlotte, and he was followed by fourth-place finisher Denny Hamlin. Kurt Busch rounded out the top five.

Team Chevy drivers Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished the race in 28th and four-time Sprint Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon came in eighth. Danica Patrick finished the race in 19th.

The Sprint Cup Series’ next race will be at Kansas Speedway on October 18th. The race is schedule to begin at 2:15pm and will be broadcast by NBC.
