Paving has begun on the National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park.

The grand opening of the National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park is set for August 27 – 30, but as it’s such a tremendous project, construction is already underway. In fact, last week, construction crews began to pave the 3.15-mile road course.

The project is largely being funded by sponsorships and flat-out donations (although a recent spike in museum traffic due to the sinkhole isn’t hurting their funding by any means either). Reportedly, Corvette enthusiasts around the country have been able to donate asphalt at the low price of just $100 a ton. Perhaps more exciting was the “One Acre Club” fundraising endeavor, which allowed fans to purchase one acre of land for the park. Purchasers would then join the exclusive club, all members of which will be among the first lucky entrants into the National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park and, more importantly, among the first to ride around the track.
