New 2.0-Liter Turbo Engine Joins Twin-Turbo V8 in 2019 Cadillac CT6 Lineup
The refreshed 2019 Cadillac CT6 will arrive with five engine options for the new model year, including an all-new standard 2.0-liter turbo.
The new turbo engine will come with a new 10-speed automatic transmission and is also destined for the 2019 XT4. CT6 specs haven’t been released yet, but on the XT4, the engine puts out 237 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. That performance could improve with the CT6 thanks to the new transmission.
The CT6’s other new engine was announced earlier this year and will also be connected to the new 10-speed transmission. The twin-turbo 4.2-liter V8 comes in two versions. When it’s under the hood of the regular CT6, it’s capable of 500 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. In the CT6 V-Sport, it can perform even more powerfully, delivering 550 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque.
Prestige and Power: Discover the Cadillac CT6 luxury sedan
Continuing from previous model years is a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine. In previous years it could achieve 404 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, but that’s likely to improve in combination with the new transmission.
Also carried over is the 2.0-liter turbo engine-electric motor combo featured in the CT6 plug-in hybrid. This engine puts out 265 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque and comes with a four-mode Electric Variable Transmission.
The CT6 is getting more than new engines for 2019. Cadillac’s flagship luxury sedan is also receiving a makeover based on the Escala concept. Its body will feature updated contours and aggressive horizontal front elements to go with its signature vertical headlights. Inside, the infotainment system will get new rotary controls and an improved Rear Camera Mirror.
