The 2017 Kia Cadenza is all new for its second generation

The Kia Cadenza isn’t considered the most popular vehicle in Kia’s lineup, but that might soon change. Kia introduced the second-generation sedan at the 2016 New York International Auto Show. Now, the large sedan will arrive on dealer lots soon with the promise of better handling, a more refined interior, and superior quality.

For the 2017 model year, the Cadneza has a new chassis that is lighter and 35% stiffer than the one used in the 2016 Kia Cadenza model. This new chassis will help improve the sedan’s handling, while an updated 3.3-liter V6 engine will churn out 290 horsepower and 253 lb-ft of torque, giving the Cadenza more power. Add the fact that Cadenza also features Kia’s first front-wheel drive eight-speed automatic transmission, and this vehicle is going to be one hell of a ride.

The changes aren’t only obvious in the sedan’s improved handling. Inside the Cadenza, plenty of new design features will draw consumers. For instance, there is now a Head Up Display, a revised Surround View Monitor, a wireless phone charger, and Kia’s most recent UVO infotainment system.

The technology doesn’t stop there, though. The 2017 Cadenza also offers standard Android Auto and Auto CarPlay, along with an optional Harman/Kardon audio system that has 12 speakers.

Even the exterior of the Cadenza sees some tweaks. The lower trims feature the “Diamond Butterfly” front grille, which is typically seen on other Kia models. The higher trims, though, will have the “Intaglio” grille, which features vertical blades. Pricing has yet to be announced for the 2017 Cadenza, but we’re sure to find out about it soon enough.
