2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid

The Toyota Camry may be the best-selling sedan in America, but that hasn’t stopped customers, competitors, and even Toyota to admit that the car is a little bland.

No more. Unveiled at the 2017 North American International Show in Detroit, the 2018 Toyota Camry is all about reshaping the emotional reaction brought upon by seeing and driving one.

To start with, the new Camry’s roof line is sleeker than ever before and the front end is positively attractive, with a sculpted hood that sits an inch lower than before and a restyled bumper that emphasizes the width of the car. Even more interesting—bold, even—is Toyota’s decision to position its emblem within a wing-shaped grille.

There are plenty of other changes, inside and out, that have been made to enhance the Camry’s visual character, including sportier cockpit gauges and soft-touch materials just about everywhere. However, drivers will be especially happy to note that the 2018 Toyota Camry is not just a prettied-up version of the same car.

Because it now rides on the Toyota New Global Architecture platform (the same used by the fourth-generation Prius), the Camry’s center of gravity has been lowered to improve its stability and handling. By default, it will be powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder paired with an eight-speed automatic, but customers can upgrade to a 3.5-liter V6 with direct-injection or a hybrid version that Toyota promises will get fuel economy comparable to the Prius.
