New Ford Fiesta Euro NCAP

Ford may not be bringing the all-new Ford Fiesta to the United States, much to the chagrin of those who love fun little cars with a lot of personality. It has begun its rollout in Europe, however, and while sales are likely to be considerable all the same—particularly in the United Kingdom—the automaker will have a newly-won 5-star safety score in Euro NCAP crash testing to help prop up its status.

The new Ford Fiesta scored an 87% for adult occupant protection and 84% for child occupant protection in car-to-car side impact testing and earned additional high marks in frontal crash testing and side-pole crash testing.

The new Ford Fiesta is also offered with a number of technologically-advanced safety features aimed at mitigating collisions, including a revamped version of Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection that can now help drivers to avoid collisions at night and in the dark. Other technologies receiving special commendations from Euro NCAP were the Adjustable Speed Limiter and Lane Keeping Aid.

“The latest Euro NCAP safety standards are more stringent than ever, with new emphasis placed on technologies that can help drivers avoid accidents,” said Joe Bakaj, vice president, Product Development, Ford of Europe. “Fiesta can now help steer drifting drivers back into lane, and can monitor the road ahead up to the length of a football pitch—helping drivers detect and avoid hazards for safer journeys.”

Other available safety technologies for the new Ford Fiesta include Active Park Assist with Perpendicular parking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Information System, and Forward Collision Warning.

Eleven vehicles in Ford’s European lineup have earned the 5-star safety score from Euro NCAP: B-MAX, Edge, Fiesta, Focus, Galaxy, Kuga, Mondeo, Ranger, S-MAX, Tourneo Courier, Transit, and Tourneo Custom.
