General Motors has announced that it is adding the new Isuzu KB to the Off-Road Driving Courses and Corporate Team Building Experiences portion of its Isuzu Off-Road Academy. The new Isuzu KB family adds a new 4×4 Automatic and a 2.5-liter DTEQ turbodiesel among its various and sundry upgrades.

GM launched the Isuzu Off-Road Academy in 2010, and it has since trained more than 5,000 individuals from all over the world in the basic tenets of off-roading in a 4×4 among other skills. Instructors at the academy include Grant McCleery and Marius van Vuuren, both of whom are uniquely qualified to teach the necessary skills for driving 4x4s in even the most adverse conditions.

Skills taught at the academy include all-terrain driving, recovery and maintenance, and proper environmental consideration.

“The Isuzu Off-Road Academy is an approved Isuzu service provider that provides an invaluable extension to the Isuzu ownership experience”, says Mlungisi Nonkonyana, Isuzu Brand Manager, GM South Africa.  “The course allows the Isuzu owner, particularly the less experienced recreational user, the opportunity to fully realize the potential and thus enjoyment of a 4×4 vehicle for maximized satisfaction and safety in use.”

The Isuzu Off-Road Academy operates at the Gerotek Testing Facility, which is close to Pretoria, South Africa. However, the academy is geared toward drivers from around the globe in addition to local individuals and corporations. The Isuzu KB has been one of South Africa’s most popular trucks since its introduction to the market back in 1978.
