New Kia Stinger Earns Five-Star Safety Rating from Euro NCAP

Due to its advanced safety technologies, every trim of the 2018 Kia Stinger, whether powered by a diesel or gasoline engine, has been awarded the highest rating for collision safety from Euro NCAP.

Garnering particular praise from the Euro NCAP was the Kia Stinger’s passenger safety features.

“Passengers were well protected from whiplash, while the effects of pedestrian impact were reduced by an active deployable bonnet,” reports Kia.

The 2018 Kia Stinger features a long list of standard features including dual front advanced airbags, dual front seat mounted airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, driver’s side knee airbag, front seat-belt pretensioners, anti-lock braking system (ABS), four-wheel disc brakes, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Vehicle Stability Management, and Parking Distance Warning (PDW), front and rear.

It also features Kia’s available Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) including Blind Spot Collision Warning (BCW) with Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Collision Warning (RCCW), Forward Collision Avoidance Assist (FCA) with Pedestrian Detection, Forward Collision Warning System (FCWS), Advanced Smart Cruise Control (ASCC) with Stop and Go, Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS), Driver Attention Warning (DAW), Head Up Display (HUD).

According to Kia, “The independent safety testing organisation awarded the Stinger 93% for adult occupant protection, 81% for child occupant protection, 78% for pedestrian protection, and 82% in the ‘Safety Assist’ category.”

The Euro NCAP also praised the 2018 Kia Stinger for its Advanced High Strength Steel body.

The 2018 Kia Stinger is available at five trim levels: Stinger, Premium, GT, GT1, and GT2. The Stinger and Premium trims are equipped with a twin scroll turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) transmission; this powertrain generates 255 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The GT, GT1, and GT2 trims are equipped with a twin turbocharged 3.3-liter V6 engine mated to a Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) transmission; this powertrain generates 365 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of torque.
