Mitsubishi Does Crossovers Right: See why the Outlander is ranked #1
In a recent interview with Automotive News, Mitsubishi CEO Osamu Masuko announced Mitsubishi’s plans to introduce a five-seat small crossover SUV. Masuko said this new crossover would fit between the mid-size Outlander and compact Outlander Sport.
“The Outlander is growing in size, while the Outlander Sport is getting smaller, so it opens a space for the new SUV,” said Masuko in the interview. “We need something to fit in between.”
Other Mitsubishi Debuts: Check out when the next Mitsubishi Mirage will debut
The new Mitsubishi compact SUV will make its way to dealers in the fall of 2016. It will specifically target the United States and Europe, available with both gasoline and plug-in hybrid powertrains. Markets other than the US will also receive the option of a diesel variant.
It’s possible that this new Mitsubishi crossover will feature some design elements from the eX Concept, which debuted earlier this month at the Tokyo Motor Show.
