New Verano Launches in Shanghai
This past weekend, Shanghai GM officially launched the brand-new Buick Verano and began taking pre-orders. The new Verano is being offered in eight different variants priced from 135,900 RMB (approximately $21,900 USD) and 199,900 RMB (approximately $32,200 USD).
“The Verano will especially appeal to younger car buyers who value style, dynamics and a quality driving experience,” said Shanghai GM President Wang Yongqing. “Its launch demonstrates our commitment to provide customers who are young and young at heart an exciting selection of products to meet their different needs and preferences.”

The Verano’s different powertrains all come standard with start-stop technology, which helps to both improve fuel economy and reduce emissions. Available for the 20T models is the 1.5T SIDI engine, which sets new standards for power and fuel consumption. The 15S models receive the mid-mounted 1.5-liter SIDI mated to either a six-speed DSS or a six-speed manual transmission.
Significant for the new model is a body structure composed of 72% high-strength steel and a number of active and passive safety features including Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Collision Mitigation Braking, and High Beam Assist.
All new models will come standard with dual-panel panoramic sunroof, Remote Engine Start, and two rear USB ports for easy charging.
