Next Buick Regal to Take Cues from Opel Monza Concept
Last year, GM’s Opel brand unveiled the Opel Monza concept car at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Now, at the Paris Motor Show, Opel has confirmed to Automotive News that the next-gen Opel Insignia will take its styling cues from the Opel Monza concept, ushering in a new level of luxury for the Insignia model.
So what in the world does this have to do with the American market? The Buick Regal is a rebadged Opel Insignia, meaning that the Regal will be taking its cues from the Opel Monza concept as well. The Buick Regal will debut in its next generation sometime in 2017.
When a car is rebadged from another market, an automaker typically makes a few to several notable changes. However, as Opel design chief, Mark Adams, works to fuse Opel and Buick (a job he’s been tasked with), the changes will become fewer and farther between. In fact, the Opel Cascada that is traveling across the Atlantic to be rebadged as a Buick convertible will be essentially unchanged. This means we can expect a more premium look for the next generation of the Regal when it debuts.
We’ll bring you more updates about the Buick Regal as they become available.
