NHRA and Chevrolet Sign Multi-Year Deal as Official Truck
The National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) just got itself a new best friend. Reportedly, the NHRA and Chevrolet have just signed a multi-year deal making the American automaker the Official Truck of NHRA.
As part of this agreement, Chevy will have a major presence at all the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series events. Since the Bowtie Brand is serving as the Official Truck, you can bet you’ll see a whole lot of the Chevy Silverado and the Chevy Suburban used for things such as the Safety Safari to prepare the tracks and to serve as emergency response vehicles.
“Chevrolet is proud to partner with the series as the Official Truck of NHRA, and are honored that our Silverados and Suburbans will be utilized by the NHRA Safety Safari,” reported Jim Campbell, vice president of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. “Our involvement in NHRA allows us to showcase the most dependable, longest-lasting trucks in America to our customers and fans, and to fans of NHRA drag racing.”
Already, the Chevrolet Performance brand serves as the title sponsor for the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals which is held every Labor Day outside of Indianapolis. Becoming the Official Truck of NHRA is another bold step forward into drag racing for the American brand.
“NHRA provides a unique platform for Chevrolet to reach out in a very personal way to our very loyal fan base,” commented Gary Darcy, NHRA senior vice president of sales and marketing. “Chevrolet will have a great opportunity to expose its products to NHRA fans and, at the same time, share its connection with NHRA through its extensive dealer network.”
Darcy added, “Chevrolet has a tremendous history of involvement with NHRA at the series level, event level and team level. Chevrolet’s expansion of its NHRA sponsorship reaffirms the fact that the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series provides a great return-on-investment.”
