NHTSA Awards Five-Star Safety Rating for the 2014 Mazda6
The 2014 Mazda6 midsize sedan has earned a five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). In order for a vehicle to earn the NHTSA’s highest honor, it must perform exceptionally well in frontal crash, side crash, and rollover testing. The five-star safety rating for the 2014 Mazda6 was earned after the sedan performed above safety standards in all three facets of testing.
The 2014 Mazda6 earned an overall four-star score in the frontal crash test with a five-star rating for the driver (male) and four-star rating for the passenger (female).
The five-star safety rating for the 2014 Mazda6 was aided considerably by an impeccable performance in the side crash tests. This includes five stars in side barrier testing using the front seat driver (male)/ rear passenger seat (female) setup, and a five-star rating in side pole testing (assumed for a female driver).
Finally, the Mazda6 nabbed a four-star rollover rating with a 10.3 percent risk of rollover. With all testing considered, a five-star safety rating for the 2014 Mazda6 is also made possible by standard and optional safety features such as 4-Wheel ABS, airbags, traction control, electronic stability control, and lane-departure warning.
