The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently awarded the 2015 Chevy Traverse a five-star safety rating, the highest rating a vehicle can receive from the government administration.

Specifically, the all-new Traverse received five stars in both front and side crash tests and picked up four stars in the rollover test.

Standard safety features for the 2015 Traverse include antilock brakes, electronic stability control, a rearview camera, and a tire-pressure monitoring system. The Traverse LTZ trim also features forward collision alert and lane-departure warning as standard.

Optional for the 2015 model is Siri Eyes Free integration, to keep drivers more focused on driving while staying connected.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has not yet rated the 2015 Traverse, but we expect that the equivalent rating (Top Safety Pick) would be applied after testing.

The Traverse’s competitors scored similarly. The 2015 Toyota Highlander also grabbed five stars while the 2015 Honda Pilot managed four. The 2015 models of the Nissan Pathfinder and the Ford Explorer have yet to be rated.
