What Will Nissan Bring to Its NISMO Lounge at SEMA?
Nissan hasn’t announced any plans to unveil new concepts of any sort at the 2014 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show, but it has announced that it will be there with bells on. SEMA will run from November 4-7 in Las Vegas, and Nissan will be operating out of its NISMO Lounge with a few of its best models.
So what will be on display at the NISMO Lounge, located in Booth #46045 in the Lower South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center? Nissan says that it’ll be bringing along the 2015 GT-R NISMO and the Nissan 370Z NISMO Safety Vehicle that it trotted out for the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge (CTSCC). And that’s it.
We sincerely hope that Nissan has more in store for those attending SEMA than that. Our suggestions: why not trot out Sparky? You know, the Frontier-LEAF mashup created by a couple of engineers at the Technical Center in Stanfield, Arizona. That thing is ripe for customization, especially when considering that it in and of itself is a one-of-a-kind piece. Just imagine a little NISMO version!

Too weird? What about the Pulsar NISMO from the Paris Motor Show? Want to test the market viability of this hot hatch in America? Set up a track and let attendees hoon to their hearts’ content.
Or why not even surprise us with a real-world version of one of the #NISMOMashups that the company tweeted earlier this summer? What’s not to love about a NISMO model that smooshes a Sentra together with a 370Z?
Perhaps Nissan has something more in store for us in the NISMO Lounge, so we will be keeping our fingers crossed.
There will be plenty of Nissan bigwigs on hand—from Hiroshi Tamura, Chief Product Specialist, GT-R, Z and NISMO to Darren Cox, global head of Brand, Marketing & Sales, NISMO—so there’s hope that Nissan could pull a fast one on us and break out something new. (Full disclosure: we really want a Nissan Xterra NISMO.)
